We have a very, very special plan on a first-come, first-served basis. We’re calling it craft services, because that makes it sound pretty rock ‘n roll, but it’s easy to explain outside of the clever name:

  • We have 24 blank, ready-to-be-customized Munny’s
  • You can buy them at the event for $25 each and $20 of those will go straight to the charities
  • We’ll have a bunch of markers, stamps, and stickers so you can chill out, drink a beer, and decorate your Munny

Oh, and one last thing!

  • Everyone who buys a Munny (and only those who snag one) will be entered to win an amazing prize from the Art Institutes International, Minneapolis – one of the artists kits prepped for students starting an art education. Seriously, it’s way rad! (And did we mention it’s worth $500). Here’s what’s inside:
  • four drawing pads from gigantic down to big, sketch board, ruler, cutting mat, eight tubes of paint, 12 piece charcoal stick set, sharpie, blender, ebony pencil, three charcoal pencils, pencil sharpener, kneaded eraser, white eraser, pen nibs, 12 piece marker set, 12 piece colored pencil set, jumbo charcoal stick, four brushes for watercolors and acrylics, masking tape, x-acto knife with blades, india ink, 12 piece pencil set, four pigment liner sketch pen set, and a color wheel. Oh, and it all comes in a big, cool carry-able bag

We’ll get your contact info and let you know later if you won (more simply, you need not be present to win). Thanks so much to Robot Love, Art Institutes International Minneapolis, and the volunteers who are going to goad creativity right outta you all!

These are going to be an amazing prize for the lucky folks who attend Be Excellent to Each Other 2009. We have three original, inked comic pages from each of three amazing comic artists on original comic stock (so they’re big and heavy-weight paper and signed by each of the folks who worked on each page.

So, three large-scale pages each from:

While we don’t want to spoil the specifics, let’s just say that the pages we have feature some amazing <cough, Superman> heroes and villians doing their best <cough, Batman> crimefightin’

If you don’t know what an inked comic page looks like, here’s a sample:

sample comic pageThe dimensions are somewhere in the neighborhood of 13 1/4 x 19 1/2 inches on cardstock, pencil and ink. Good luck at the event!

Who’s arguing, except that everyone always argues about the best pizza in any given town. We here at Be Excellent to Each Other can vouch for the “pizza” in a number of other metropolitan areas, and it, well, sucks. So, when the debate rages in Minneapolis, people might quibble on the top spot, but Galactic Pizza always pops up as a contender (and often as the rightful winner).

Truly, besides the amazing pies, they’re also a huge part of the local community and they’ve donated a $30 gift certificate for someone super lucky to win at Be Excellent to Each Other! If you’re an NPR member (no plug intended), that’ll get you two amazing large pizzas :) (If you’re not an NPR member, that will get you very near two large pizzas, equally amazing!)

We’re hoping you guys like games, because Sega has joined the ranks of Electronic Arts, Harmonix, and another to-be-announced donor by dishing up some games for Be Excellent to Each Other 2009! We’ll have four games from them on a number of systems – look for the goodies to be packed together by platform.

But what if you don’t want these particular titles (silly you)? Consider it holiday shopping for your gaming friends and family! You rock, Sega!

Who doesn’t love Good Eats hosted by Alton Brown? Okay, in honesty, we know a couple of people, but they’re derided as classless freaks (you know who you are). Besides making a great show that merges Bill Nye the Science Guy, Julia Child, and Monty Python, the folks at Be Square Inc. have sent over one of the famous salt cellars used all the time on the show.

The man himself is on a book tour right now, so the winner will swap out the blank one we have on site with a personalized, signed one after the lucky winner is decided! (For a sample, see Lisa’s, pictured above.) Cook smart and rock hard! See you on Friday!

Jennifer Davis is an amazing local artist whose coveted work has appeared all over the place – t-shirts for Mason Jennings, book covers, and on walls of galleries nationwide. She’s the hotness and her pieces have an amazing feeling like the dreams we had as kids – surreal, sometimes creepy, but with light and bright colors.

Luckily for one of you, we have an original piece of hers available at Be Excellent to Each Other! “The Inchworm” is a groovy little painting showing a favorite toy from the ’80s. Come and win it!

Note: The piece we have is not the piece pictured above, but is similarly kick ass!

Local bike emporium The Alt has been most generous to @BeMostExcellent (aka the Twitter feed for Be Excellent to Each Other 2009). We have two gift certificates for a free tune up (valued at a sweet $59.99 a piece) and a heaping handful of wooden nickels each worth a discount on a tune up.

What’s the coolest way we could use those? Maybe we’ll put them into the auction bundles getting set up as we speak… Hmmm.

Harmonix Music Systems is pure, unrelenting awesome. They make Rock Band, they get tons of great additional DLC content to our living room every week, and they convinced the freaking Beatles to finally go interactive!

Selfishly, we love them for more than just those reasons. They’re being amazing in offering an abundance of help and support to our little fundraiser!

Here’s the short-form take-away:

  1. Harmonix and the people who work there are awesome
  2. They are bringing ALL of the DLC with them for you to play. Seriously, all of it.
  3. There will be three complete Rock Band 2 sets for audience favorites of those brave souls who bust out on stage during our event! Three!

If you’d like a list of all of the songs that are currently available, check out over here and start practicing! Hint: there are currently 883 available :)

Lyndale Ave.’s amazing Uptown Tattoo has been super generous to Be Excellent to Each Other 2009 – we’ve got two smoking hot gift certificates for time with the crew, each for $50. We might be crazy biased (but the constant acclaim for the shop and its artists makes us think otherwise), but there is no bad work that walks out of this shop. Thanks to the crew, you guys rock!
